BOSTON MARATHON
MARISA’S MISSION TEAM
We are thrilled to be able to have a team for the Boston Marathon for the 3rd year in a row. Our team is small but mighty, and we want to support their efforts in every way we can.
Marisa’s Mission provides significant financial support to individuals in Massachusetts dealing with a cancer diagnosis, so they can focus on what matters most: health and family.
Introducing our
2026 Team

John Pyliotis
I’m running for Marisa’s Mission because my family and I know first hand the physical, psychological and financial pain caused by cancer. My wife, Beth, is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2013 and our life, as we knew it, was turned upside down.Treatments went on for 15 months, bills were piling up and life was crazy, scary and the future was uncertain. Marisa’s Mission supports families affected by cancer. They are a ray of light in the seemingly endless darkness that is cancer. I want to fundraise to allow Marisa’s Mission to help as many families as possible!

Marisa’s Mission has had a profound impact on me both in honoring Marisa’s memory and in witnessing firsthand the difference we make for individuals and families in need.
As a board member, I see firsthand how our support eases the burdens of families facing cancer.
Running in Marisa’s name is an honor; she was one of the most caring and generous people I’ve known. Carrying her spirit forward through this mission is an honor.
I hope my three sons see their mom running marathons and feel proud, not just of the physical accomplishment, but of the commitment to helping others.

I’m running the Boston Marathon for Marisa’s Mission to honor my family’s journey with cancer and to help others facing the same fight. My sister-in-law passed away from cancer, and my brother is a survivor. Cancer has touched many in my family, and this cause is deeply personal. Marisa’s Mission embodies compassion, strength, and hope—values that guide me as I train and run. Through this effort, I aim to carry forward Marisa’s legacy of helping families focus on what matters most: health, love, and time together.

I am excited to be running the 2026 Boston Marathon with Marisa’s Mission to help support local patients and their families battling cancer! Like millions of others, cancer has touched my loved ones, making this cause deeply personal to me. Running and living a healthy lifestyle has long been a passion, and completing the Boston Marathon has been a dream for years. Seeing the impact Marisa’s Mission has had is truly inspiring, and running the marathon will allow me to provide meaningful financial support to families navigating cancer. I am committed to training hard and giving my absolute all to support this cause!

I’m excited to be running the 2026 Boston Marathon, and Marisa’s Mission. This will be my 2nd marathon and I'm excited for the challenge and to help fundraise for a great cause. This cause has become increasingly close to home for my family, and I’m committed to using this marathon to help others who may be facing the same fight with fewer resources and less support.
Shortly after I registered for the marathon, we fell into all too familiar territory. My mom was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Around the same time, my uncle (her brother) underwent an organ transplant as part of his own fight with a similar diagnosis. Watching them, as well as my sister a few years back, navigate treatment and recovery has been difficult, and it has reinforced something we all know: cancer impacts entire families, and not everyone has the same level of support or resources. I’m so thankful for all our friends and family who have shown up for us in a big way, and I’m hoping to pass even a small part of that support on to others.
